Alex Grey & Allyson Grey at Rainbow Serpent Festival, Australia
Rainbow Serpent Festival is very happy to announce that during his first visit to Australia, Alex Grey and his wife Allyson will be headlining the festival’s 2011’s Arts and Lifestyle programs. During the course of the festival, Alex and Allyson Grey will showcase their radiant portfolio of visionary artwork in the CoSM Space, a special area of the Arts and Lifestyle Village. The Greys will present an inspiring and luminous live painting experience, allowing the Rainbow community to enter into their visionary realm of consciousness. There will also be special opportunities to interact with Alex and Allyson in an inspirational workshop and talks held at the Arts and Lifestyle Village at Rainbow. The CoSM space will also feature artworks from international and Australian artists that explore the spheres of fantastical, sacred and the surreal. It is an inclusive space that invites the visitor to explore the tangible manifestations of the artists’ minds through the art gallery spaces. Stay tuned for even more special announcements about Alex & Allyson’s contribution to Rainbow Serpent Festival!
ABOUT RAINBOW SERPENT FESTIVAL
Rainbow Serpent Festival has come a long way in 10 years – Starting off as a small gathering in a secluded clearing, to an internationally recognised, multifaceted weekend of dance, colour, expression and celebration. People now travel from all over the world to this space outside of Melbourne, Victoria, to experience what some have said is the best outdoor festival of its type in the Southern Hemisphere. No longer just an electronic music festival these days, the Rainbow experience is a unique combination of music, art, performance, spiritual education, relaxation, and healing. The Rainbow Serpent Aboriginal Story "While dancing their Dreamings, Australian Aborigines spiritually connect themselves to the land and to the Dreamtime. The drumming of feet during the dance draws the earth into dialogue with the dancers, allowing the ceremony to bring the power of the Dreaming to life." The name Rainbow Serpent is distinctly Australian, coming from the Dreamtime creation story told by the traditional owners of the land. Dreamtime stories often vary between Aboriginal tribes, however the story of the Rainbow Serpent is special as it is one of the few common to all. The Rainbow Serpent is protector of the land, and the source of all life.
